Easter 2010!

Happy Easter!

Owen and Paxton celebrated Easter with the added company of Grandma, Papa C and cousin Bekah. A weekend full of fish and chips, train rides, MSU Final Four basketball, trips to the gym, and backyard homerun derby culminated with a wonderful Easter celebration.

After church on Sunday morning, Owen and Paxton returned home ready to start the annual egg hunt. The search moved indoors this year, but the excitement was not limited in any way.

A house full of hidden Easter bunny treasures awaited the two little searchers as they dashed up and down stairs and in and out of rooms.

They were both very successful in their search, accumulating an abundant collection of colored eggs full of hidden treasures.

...and culminating with the discovery of baskets full of tasty treats and fun toys.

Grandma tried to get a picture with both of the grandkids, but they seemed a little pre-occupied and less interested in a photo opportunity. Sorry grandma...

Prior to Easter morning, and prior to any of the egg hunts, Owen and Paxton both spent time decorating eggs of their own. The concentration was evident with every rolling brushstroke.

Pre-Easter Treats

Brecken worked with the kids to bake some pretty fun Easter egg shaped cakes this week. Owen and Paxton pretended to contribute their efforts along the way, but more than anything, they enjoyed the opportunity to "clean up."

Like brother, like sister. They're never too far apart. There is something special about the leftover batter on the blades of the mixer. Why is it that you stop taking advantage of this delicacy as you get older? Makes you want to make a batch of cookies, doesn't it?

Little Lady - L'il Kicker

Owen has been involved with Saturday morning "soccer" for the past year, but in the last couple of weeks, Paxton has taken her show on the road for Saturday morning entertainment. The latest "L'il Kicker" has had fun donning her uniform and running around with other kids for 45 minutes each weekend.

They label the activity as "soccer," and at times, there are activities that resemble soccer and involve actual soccer balls...

...but for Paxton and her "teammates," there are many other activities involved, including the ol' stacking of the cones game...

Soccer or not, Paxton seems to have fun with it, and we enjoy the opportunity to get out of the house for a little while. More to come on Owen and his activities in an adjacent field.

Wacky Wednesday

There have been several themed days at school lately for Mr Owen, including "dress like your favorit storybook character" and "Wacky Wednesday." Owen and Brecken dug through the dress up bin and the everyday closet to come up with the following for Wacky Wednesday:

Safety goggles? check! Conductors hat? check! necktie (double windsor)? check! Sweat pants? check! Skeleton socks? check! Wooden bracelet on the arm? check! Envious little sister? check!
I'm not sure what the other kids wore for Wacky Wednesday, but we definitely jumpstarted our morning with a little energy and anticipation. Double tongue salute is an interesting way to start any morning.
