Hitting the books.

After several weekends of hosting guests or visiting friends, I'm finally settling back in to the academic quarter. I guess it is just in time, as midterms begin next week. I must admit that the motivation for the second quarter certainly pales in comparison to the first quarter of business school. I can only imagine what I will be like this time next year. Of course, the good part about this quarter compared to last quarter is that Owen is no longer just an osmotic participant in my studies. Here he is seen taking an active role in the case preparation for Competitive Strategy.

To the casual observer, Owen appears more interested in the highlighter than in the complexity of the horizontal boundaries of the firm, but I assure you that he is all business. Rather than providing mentorship and encouragement, I'm beginning to believe that I'm simply around for back support so that he can sit up while reading.

During an independent study session last night, he actually fell asleep. Brecken was worried about this type of commitment before his three month birthday, but I look at it as simple verification that he is well adjusted to college life. After all, who hasn't spent some quality study time drooling on their textbooks?

Oh yeah...in addition to studying, this is also the active recruiting season. I guess business school has a lot to do with finding a new job. In fact, a lot of people have become creepy, stressed out, shells of their former selves lately. Maybe I'm too much of a glass-half-full kind of guy, but I'm confident that something will fall into place. With 8 interviews in 10 days, it has to, right? Then again, we are competing with Alan Greenspan for jobs now. I'll keep you posted on the job hunt, The idea of putting Owen in his car seat outside of an interview room humors me, but I think we'll pass on having him participate this time around. Cheers!
