Dancing the weekend away.
While the plans changed, there was still some fun to be had. Owen welcomed Mike and Cristin for a couple of days and evenings of entertainment.
While Mike and I worked on a little shelving project in the basement and spent Saturday afternoon shooting pool at the Corner Pocket, Owen ventured off with Cristin and Brecken. I originally thought this would be a good idea, providing me with some flexibility and providing Cristin with some quality time with Owen. However, as I should have suspected, Owen became a prop in the shopping game. In fact, had Brecken been driving a Jetta that day, I would go as far as saying that this was Brecken's first Lincoln Park Trixie moment (too bad I'm not a banker).
Owen worked Armitage on Saturday, enjoying lunch at Tilly's, hot chocolate (indirectly) at Ethel's chocolate shop, wooing the ladies at Lori's shoes, and stopping to say hello at Ann Taylor. Could the guy's vs. girl's afternoons have diverged any further. Anyway, as the afternoon turned to evening, Owen and the four of us had dinner at Big Bowl before heading home.
As is often the case when Brecken gets together with out-of-town friends, a dance party seems to ensue.....in our living room. In the past, famous guest acts have included DJ Master P, Sarah "Who's my baby's daddy" T, Radhika "My husband ain't Shaggy" v, Aimee "not quite Gabe" O, and Jennifer "not so shy" T. Saturday night was Cristin's chance, and like it or leave it, Owen was there for the experience.
The kid really seems to like his music these days, and what little boy can resist the dancing ladies in his living room. Funny how this type of excitement doesn't present itself during the week when I'm doing Investments homework or reading Macroeconomics. A fun weekend indeed. Cheers!
