The Faces of Owen!

Owen has been entertaining our household for fourteen weeks now. In the past few weeks, I've received a lot of comments from people stating "Owen is always in a great mood" or "Owen never stops smiling" or "Does he ever cry?" Looking through the heavily filtered lens of the blog, it is easy to understand such comments. What..me?...biased? Telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?....of course.

In the spirit of honesty and full disclosure, I thought it would be interesting to share with you a few of the faces of Owen from the past week. It really is a lot of fun these days simply trying to keep up with the developing mind and the emerging personality.

We'll call this look "Mr. Blog" as it is the one most commonly seen in previous posts. In all seriousness, Owen is full of smiling moments these days. The coolest moment for me each day is coming home from school to this little smile.

I have no clue what to call this look, but it is one that commonly accompanies his stretching routine. Think arms and legs flailing between gas attacks and following naps.

The "Deer in the Headlights" or the "Don't call me Nick Nolte" mug shot. This look can be found the moment lights go on in a dark room or loud noises come on the radio. He also tosses this look out there upon seeing someone new.

The "Excuse me, are you forgetting I'm in charge here" look can accompany disheartening moments like finger-nail cutting, empty stomachs, or the overly tired crankiness.

The "Trance" look accompanies only one thing. It isn't me. It isn't Brecken. It isn't a bottle of formula. It is the Television. Unbelievable how those little eyes can lock on to the TV, and how everything else in the room can be inconsequential. Needless to say, Owen isn't getting much TV time.

The "Mr. Irresistible" look comes out when the "Excuse Me, are you forgetting I'm in Charge Here" look isn't working. This is Owen's little "Look into my eyes....and I will melt you" approach to getting what he wants. I laugh at him in these moments but admire the devious control he has over his environment. Meanwhile, Brecken and both grandmas are putty in his hands at this move. Someday this move will prove to be a killer asset for the O-dog.

Hope this provides the avid readers with a little extra insight into the many faces of Owen. Have a great day!
