Mr. 5 - Happy Birthday Owen
Grandma won over Owen by delivering a combination of old school and new school Star Wars gear. They also were along for Owen's pick of a birthday dining experience, complete with the birthday sombrero. The weekend birthday celebration was capped off by a big bash for Owen and his friends -- and open gym outing at the gymnastics facility. There was no fear in this five year old and his friends. Here is Owen going off the top shelf into the foam pit to get things started.
His buddy Jack demonstrated for Owen the power of style points.
Longtime pal Joey was perfectly comfortable relaxing in the foam for a few minutes.
Our resident expert on drama and party etiquette was overseeing all of the activities and taking part along the way.
As a parent of a five year, there are a few goals with a birthday party. First, make sure the kids have a great time. Second, make sure they tire themselves out in the process and let you recover yourself. We're pretty sure we achieved both goals.
A party is also not complete these days without some refreshments. Brecken did a great job of pulling off the theme that Owen requested: SHARK PARTY! Sandy beach cakes and dorsal fin cupcakes paired with "shark blood" punch and Swedish fish chum buckets...mmm!
A great time, and a happy 5th birthday to our favorite little man. We love you O!
