Home Run Kings - Introductory T-Ball

May 19th

Owen spent 6 weeks this spring in the park district t-ball program, spending Wed evenings working on some basics of the game, including hitting, running the bases, fielding...and some crazy kid exercise games that have very little to do with baseball (following game of "sharks").

On several occasions, the coaches elected to bat without tees, using slow underhand and overhand pitches to the kids. We were particular proud on this day when Owen hit the first pitch on both of his at bats. The first was a line drive back at the coach, and the second was through the gap to the opposite field. All things being honest, after the line drive shot past the coach, Owen proceeded to run directly to second base. Base running is still something to work on. :)

Check out the follow-through on this practice swing. Griffey Jr. would be proud of Owen.

Owen especially liked being able to do t-ball with his buddies Jack and Nicholas. Here is Jack standing in at the plate.

While the boys played on the field, the three sisters managed to entertain one another, often running around trees or trying to hide from the rest of us. Here is Paxton trying to energy the girls.
