Off and Kickin'
After a couple of winters of indoor soccer with 3 and 4 year olds, Owen is now old enough to begin playing outdoor AYSO soccer with other under-5 kids.
The appropriate team name may be the "highlighters," but the kids settled on the "Fire Dragons." Owen plays on the weekend and spends the first part of the day warming up with practice before a game.
As an assistant coach, I get the fun opportunity to participate in the action with Owen and his teammates.
In week 1, the wonderful fall weather was full of heavy rain. I recall many rainy, and even a few snowy days playing soccer as a kid, but as a coach, it's interesting to see the reaction of the kids. Interestingly, the kids on our team were really excited about the rain, while the kids on the other team were a lot less thrilled by downpours during the game. Either way, we played on, and we had a lot of fun. Here are a few fun moments from the game, including Owen's first two goals of his soccer fun.
Good times for everyone, and a fun start to a new season.
