Great to be outside

The snowblower was officially pushed to the back of the garage this weekend, and we're hopeful that it doesn't come out for at least another 6 months. Meanwhile, at every opportunity, Paxton is now grabbing her shoes and running out the back door to dance on the porch. Here she is asking that I get out of the way so that she can head to the backyard.
The big rush to the backyard was to find a spot to climb or just hang around on the old school monkey bars, definitely a big hit between our kids and the neighbors on Saturday and Sunday.

Lost in all of the climbing was Owen's real excitement of the weekend...his first bike. Donning the jersey of his favorite new quarterback in Chicago, Owen didn't miss an opportunity to pedal his way around the driveway and around the block. He rode his bike into town for lunch while we pushed Paxton in the stroller, and after dinner on Sunday night, Owen and I went for our first joint bike ride, looping the block a couple of times.

Relative to a much earlier post about the size of kids heads, you'll be amused to know that Owen's helmet (not shown above) is intended for a 14 year old kid. The 3+, 5+, and 8+ helmets looked like propeller topped beanies on his noggin. Sorry kid...
