The Biggest Birthday Present Ever
The big day finally arrived. After 10 years in the city and 5+ years in our condo, Brecken, Owen, and I made the move to the Chicago suburbs last Wed, November 14th.

As the movers loaded the boxes and taped up our furniture, Owen and Brecken walked next door for one last breakfast at Nookies.

After breakfast, the trucks rolled out and we made our way to the new house.

I guess it was a day of eating in transition as well. On the other end of the move, as the movers unloaded our stuff, and more importantly to Owen, his toys, he and grandma put together a makeshift table for a little fast food snack.

Of course, Nov 14th was not only moving day...it was also Owen's 2nd birthday. Despite all the efforts to unpack and get settled, we made a point of taking a break to go get some treats for the little guy. A little chocolate cake did the trick!

..and a card from grandma kept his attention.

...but the biggest excitement for Owen at the new house was the introduction of big new toys from both grandparents that were conveniently awaiting his arrival. Here is a quick shot of Owen showing Brecken how to use his new kitchen.
You be the judge of whether or not he looks happy to have his barn from grandpa.
If this isn't the biggest birthday gift Owen ever gets, then either I'm in trouble, or I've got a lot to look forward to. Altogether, we're a little worn out, and we're a little sick of unpacking, but we're very excited to be in our new home, and we look forward to welcoming friends and family in the days ahead.
Goodnight, and Happy Thanksgiving!
